heater sizing
I read that its good to have two small heaters, compared to one large heater.
what size heaters should i use for a 135 gallon tank with a 40b sump? |

i would go with 2 300w , just in case if one gets stuck it won't raise tank temp as much

Typically 2-3X water volume is sufficient for a 10deg or less increase over ambient temps.
multiple smaller heaters is preferred so that in the event of a failure that single one doesn't have the chance to cook the tank as fast. Or that you don't loose heat at once. |

I agree with 2-3 times water volume in most cases. So for a 135 plus 25 sump gallons, nominally, you're talking two 250 watters.
