Any programs (Apex?) that "automatically" dose several "additives"...?

Hi!

I am looking at the Apex controller, etc...

I am trying to figure out if it will control several automatic dosers to dose "automatically"... given your test results...?

Meaning that after you run your myriad of test (Red Sea Reef Care Program) - you can put your results into your computer...

And then the Apex (or whatever I can find) will automatically calculate the appropriate amount of what you need and then administer those doses?

Does that make any sense?

Thanks!

Just a heads up. Depending on the dosers you are using such as the BRS ones, Aquamedic ones etc, any low power consumption devices such as those should only be run on the relay outlets. Those are outlets 4 and 8 on the EB8. The EB4 is all relay outlets. The other outlets (triacs) have issues with low consumption device and may not turn off properly.

Coming up with an off the shelf dosing program won't be easy to find because every tank has different needs as far as amount/dosing time depending on parameters, water volume, and uptake from the corals. As such, you are most certainly going to need to modify any program you come across to meet your tanks needs.

Having said that, for Apex integration, ease of programming and control, you can't beat the Apex Dos! You may want to give that some serious consideration. If not that, something like the GHL multi head dosing pump. While the GHL isn't Apex controllable, unlike the cheaper dosing pumps, it's very reliable and won't die on you after a year or two. Still, if it were me, I'd lean towards the Dos for the reasons mentioned above.

Yes, I looked at the DOS - but it only doses two things - at $350...

I am wanting to use the Red Sea Reef Program (not sure if you are familiar with it?) and there are 10 different additives/supplements to add using it.

I am not aware of anything that will automatically calculate you dosage. The Archon will calculate the dosing if you give it the dose amount for 24 hr period, number times you want it dispensed in a 24 hr period and the doser dosing rate for the pump you are using. The Apex may do this also.

That would require 10 different pumps plus the at least a couple EB4's or at least a few 4 head dosing pumps.. I think you might be better off manually dosing that stuff if you are dead set on using it. I'd bet a calcium reactor with good media could accomplish mostly the same results including replenishing trace elements.

That said, I am not aware of many people here using that product. Seems like an awful lot of different products to dose. Not sure if you really need to go that route as it seems excessive. At that point, I'd look at the Triton Method.
