Ecotech quiet drive lives up to name

Just got two mp40 qd's. They are extremely quiet even at full tilt. Ecotech def has a winner here. I got rid of my old mp40s because of noise and went to tunze. Glad ecotech figured it out. You won't be disappointed if you purchase .

They finally came up with something to release my grip on my old school mp pumps.

Thanks Big for the feedback. I'm considering some driver upgrades for some of my existing Vortechs when they become available.

Has anyone tried the upgrade path and used the new driver with existing pumps? I am curious to see how that works out.

My driver upgrades have been on pre-order since early March. Hopefully won't have to wait much longer.

Yes, very impressed with the MP40QD as well. Like others, I couldn't stand the 40ES so I went with Tunze 6105s. With these QD, I think it solves 95% of the noise issue. I said 95% because while one pump is dead silent, I can still hear the whining of the other one I got. I'll give it some time as everything tend to need a break in time.

Just hooked one up with a gyre on the other side. I may be selling my gyre. I too had to watch the prop carefully to see if it was running.

I had tremendous luck with dual 40ES's on my old 120 reef and may get them to replace the Gyre 130 on my current setup. I like the Gyre but the 130 isn't suited to a 48" tank IMHO.

Does the reef link have the same controllability as the wxm?

How does the drive make the pumps quieter? This is the part I don't understand.

Because motors like these make noise when you run them. It is very difficult to make them quiet. They have updated and improved the driver to produce less noise.

Another recommendation on the MP-40 QDs. The two I got are dead silent and I run them currently at 70% reefcrest. I've seen some bad reviews on the MP-10 QD, but mostly great for the MP-40s.

I went the upgrade path and even my loudest MP40 WES is now virtually dead silent.

I got my MP10 and MP40 QD upgrades two days ago. Some difference on the MP10, huge difference on the MP40 (also got the new wetside).

Good to hear. Tired of being able to hear 40's in my bedroom when the tank is in the basement on the other side of the house.

Anyone have a QD 60? If so how are they on noise when ramping? My last Mp60 was quite noisy.

Funny you should ask .....

After grousing and grumbling about how long it was taking for me to get my MP60QD upgrade (2 plus months post order), I finally received it on Wednesday. Got back from a WC trip last night and just HAD to install it. Wow is all that I can say. I do own a MP40QD and it's silent, but it's a new design. I was concerned that upgrading an older MP60 wouldn't go quite so well. Worry unnecessary. MP60 is now essentially silent as well. Maybe not quite the new MP40QD, but I still have to get my ear quite close to the dry side to hear that it is running. A HUGE improvement. Downside is that my remaining non-QD MP40 is now audible.
