38 gallon reef
I have 50 lbs of sand and 50 lbs of rock is that enough?

I have always heard that a general "rule of thumb" is 1-1.5 pounds per gallon, but I think the more important aspect over weight is maintaining good flow throughout the tank and avoiding dead spots. You definitely have enough to support a biological filter.

I would say plenty, possibly for me anyway to much. It really depends on the rock. Is it dense heavy rock or light porous rock.

It is light. and I haven't gotten my lighting yet that comes next week but if I bought a fish would it be ok without a lot of light for a week at the most?
