Not sure what algae this is?
Hello all
Just starting my new SW tank I recently bought a piece of LR to seed all my artificial rock, and I was taking a close look at the LR and I had noticed some hairy looking strands of algae the LR hasn't been in the tank for even a week yet. Not sure if its going to be a nuisance algae like hair algae. I should note that the tank is still cycling. Just starting into the Nitrite phase of it. So I'm thinking putting any kind of Snails or Crabs is going to be out of the question. |

Looks like some Green hair algae to me. If you really concerned about it you can take it out and scrub the rock with a toothbrush. Once done give it a rinse and put it back in the tank.
Since your still cycling your going to get various other types of growth in the coming months. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply. I might just give it a couple of days and see what happens if it dies off or not, cause of my tank is still cycling? If it truly is hair algae I'll probably know in a few day or so. I haven't even had the Diatoms yet lol
