Ato bucket

Ive been using this bucket for the past week for my ato set up. Wondering if its safe to use? Im cycling the system, so far only have crabs in the tank. All are doing well so far, just making sure.

Thanks for the help.

that will work, long as you cleaned it out. I used the orange one from Home Depot.

I would put a lid on it to keep out dust and whatever else is floating around.

Its so funny you posted this. I am using the same exact bucket with a lid on it. Hole drilled in the lid to allow the pump tubing and pump power cord through.

Out of curiousity I tested the water in the bucket and it showed TDS was 77! I was stunned. I know the water coming out of my RODI is 0. I tested the water I have already made in Deer park jugs that I use to refill the bucket and that tested at 0. How can the water be 0 coming out of RODI unit, be 0 in my holding containers, but then suddenly 77 in the actual ATO Bucket that I use???

This is an actual question because I honestly dont know the answer. I ended up dumping it out and wiping it clean with paper towels and pouring new water in there. But I am going to look for a new ato storage container.

Really, please keep me updated just incase i do need to remove it. Was using the 5 gallon lowes bucket but it was to big for my set up, plus with the smaller bucket gives me a reason to look every couple of days to make sure its all well.

when my ato bucket is full this "dipstick" float ups.

when empty it drops.

i designed it that when it bottoms out i have about a day left of ATO RODI water.

so i dont run "dry" ever

its fairly easy diy if u want a quick run down on how to do it

Nice set up, wish I had more room underneath.

I will be following us also, what's the bucket I never thought that it could be leaching something, kind of scary!

I've been using one of those Nutri-Sea water jugs (cleaned out) for my ATO reservoir. It's too big to fit inside my stand, so it's off to the side and looks kind of ugly. I do have some extra space in my stand though, so it might get replaced with a custom-built acrylic reservoir that looks a little cleaner.

Any luck with testing your water?
