My New Red Sea Reefer 450
I have been out of this hobby for 6 yrs and after visiting my local fish store and seeing the Red Sea Reefer on display, I'm back. I never saved any of my old equipment from my 150 reef, so I am starting all over. I am amazed how much the hobby has changed, LED lighting, DC pumps & skimmers.
The Red Sea Reefer caught my eye because of the quality of the tank, stand and sump. It's only a 92 Gallon, and appears so much bigger. My tank is 2 days old and I attached some photo's of the install. My signature lists all the equipment I am going to use. My skimmer arrived today and hope to have the xf150 gyre next week. Cant wait for my tank to cycle ![]()

Gorgeous I have Red Sea max c130 and although it's a different line I can tell you all the red seas are amazing tanks, especially the reefer line. The best thing about the reefer series is how upgradable it is, you picked a great tank to come back into the hobby with

That's awesome!!! I, too, have been out of the hobby for about a year and a half now, due to job relocations and the such. Well, I snagged a part time job at a LFS in the Raleigh, NC area and they sell the Reefer line. I see a 450 in my VERY near future, and I'm definitely looking into the Hydra 52's as well. Jumping on for the ride!

very nice! i have a red sea reefer 450 too, my build is on reef two reef, search "white tiger" and it should come up. I chose to go with T5 and Mh technology, I just recently incorporated a Kessil into my giesemann light.

Hello. Nice tank. I'm curious - would it be possible to turn the lights 90 degrees and only use 2 with the 450 setup?

Nice setup. I'm curious whether you think 3 Hydra HD 26's would could this tank as well, or are the 52's needed?

The cover/screen is a DYI kit from bulk reef supply. It matches the tank and was easy to make.

Looks great. We've all drooled at the pimped-out Red Sea at the LFS. Thanks for sharing!

I know this is a somewhat old thread but how did you hang your lights? Are those off the shelf supports attached to the stand or did you make them? If made, how? Looks like they are telescopic too--move up and down.
I'm picking up a 450 and have two sfiligoi XR-6s that I am thinking of cramming over it and would like to do something similar, instead of hanging from the ceiling.
