Corals bleaching?
I have mostly soft corals with a few lps, and over the last few weeks I've noticed that some of my corals have been getting a lot lighter, such as my blastos, frogspawn, and even my mushrooms. Parameters are all in check, and it's a 40b with 2 kessil a350s over it, blue channel running at 100% and white at 60%. Could this be too much light? I know some people run both channels at 100 over this tank so I would be shocked if it's the lighting, and I feed mysis every day so I don't think it's a low nutrient problem.

people will rape you hear for saying parameters are in check so give us some numbers please because we dont know what your tank is like. i dont run kessils but it does sound like a lot of light for a 40 gallon tank. how long have u been using this light over this tank and did u acclimate the corals to it?

Phos - .08
Nitrate - 0-5 ppm Alk - 9.2 Calcium - 420 Mag - 1350 I did acclimate them, been using this light since the start of the tank over a year ago and the corals only started bleaching a few weeks ago. |

when was the last time you replaced your bulbs? bulb replacement is generally recommended around the 9mo to year mark whether it looks like they need it or not.

The only thing i can think is that phos or alk has been shifting. And the most common reason is high temp, especially in these summer months. Are u dosing or have u ran and phos removers lately. P.s leds dont need changing for 50,000 hrs

I notice you said you have mostly softies. Do you run carbon? You might have some chemical warfare going on with them softies.

Kessils are very strong LEDs and at your settings you are applying 144 watts of Kessil in a 40 g is = 360 watts MH or in old school ~9 watts per gallon. For LPS and Softies this is way too much light. I would cut that in half. Try 50% blue and 25% white and see how much happier they will be.

I actually started running carbon a few weeks back to clear up some cloudy water and it didn't help the corals really, just cleared up the water. I'll try lowering my lighting and see how it goes, I jus get no growth at all so I was trying to see if stronger lighting would cause some faster growth... guess I have to look elsewhere for my growth problems

I'd dial back the Kessils.
Have A360WEs in 31" on tank height and I'm running them at 50% color and 80% intensity.

Dialed them back to 40% white and ~85% blue, we'll see how it goes.
