Nope.. so long as you don't put the metal end into the water

Awesome thanks! Yep I plan to cut the ends off and replace with nylon fittings.

How has the hose been working out for you so far?

Its fine.. Just rubber/plastic.. No problems there so long as you cut the ends off to avoid any copper containing metal/plating in the tank..

Good move ditching the metal for sure. Not just for contamination, but also because i don't like waving metal pieces around glass tanks, hah.

You can even just use food-grade clear tubing, like vinyl stuff in the 1/2 to 3/4 range.

That was my plan initially but the clear vinyl tubing was surprisingly expensive and somewhat flimsy. This hose lays out and coils pretty nicely and was only $17 for 50'!

Me? They are Norwesco brand. You can get them from several places online but shipping is a little silly so I found that Tractor Supply carries a lot of different shapes and varieties. Im in the suburbs of NYC so I had to drive about 1 1/2 hours but I just took the fam and made a day trip out of it.
