Any WI - fox valley area members?

The reef club forum for my area has been dead for what seems ~ 2 years, does anyone know of any groups in my area by chance?

edit: i know wireefsociety but that's Milwaukee and southern Wisconsin. That's a much further drive then i wish to take regularly.

There is the Madison area reef society (MARS), but that is hit or miss IMO.

We have one started at our LFS (pet department at Ace hardware). Pretty big pet department and saltwater section. We have people that have joined it from all over. It's located in Weston (next to Wausau, WI). It's not really a part of the LFS, it just got started by a couple of guys that run the saltwater department and it's just easier to have meetings there.

It was just started up, but eventually want to have meetings, frag swaps and such. If you are interested you can join it on FB here...

Ace Weston Saltwater Club

applied to join the group, closer at least.

I'll also look into the madison one, but thats pretty far away aswell.

It's weird there's not more activity in the appleton area, there's a few nice stores here so there is at least a good size handful of people in the hobby in my general area.

If all else fails hopefully you will find enough locals to start your own group.

There is the Wisconsin aquarium group on facebook. It is a mix of fresh and salt, mostly fresh. It has folks from all over the state.

LFS here just upgraded, their little baby double frag tank, now they have what was roughly 8'x8' x18" maybe? they are waiting on the sump yet, but its gonna be pretty nuts, next time i go ill take a picture, i dont know how i forgot to take a picture while i was there.

tspors, i see youre in appleton, do you know of any other places than justpets and aquamarine imports?

or is that about it? besides obviously petco and petsmart, but i only go to petco for snails/crabs.

okay, yeah.

I havn't been able to get to pepe in weeks due to the darned road construction. Its like a 20 minute detour to get to him now.

thankfully, they have string line up to start paving shortly, so hopefully within the month at least half the road will be back. ( i used to work in concrete )

do you have an opinion on justpets? they have a decent saltwater selection, but ive noticed aiptasia in their frag tanks. Not a big deal, but everyone has always been pretty nice when ive been there at least.

I'll have to check out the oshkosh one, thanks.
