FINALLY setting up my first reef tank after 2 years of putting it off.

Ok I'm finally ready to setup my first reef tank, I'm shutting down my 46 bow front planted tank to use as a reef.

I've got about 70 pounds of dry reef rock in my garage to pick through, I was going to purchase substrate next. Petsmart has the best price on carib sea aragonite that I've seen so I was going to get it from them. How many pounds should I expect to use in a 46 bow front? They sell it in 15 pound bags, so I was thinking 3 bags would do it?

Ok thanks. I'll pick up 3 bags soon. Maybe a stupid question, but rock first then sand or sand first then rock?

I always put rock 1st as any sand burrowing critters can dig the sand out from under the rocks causing a callaps if you do it the other way

Another question, is there any benefit to one type of carib sea aragonite vs another. The one I'm looking at is the aragamax select.

I'm not sure. I think grain size is the main difference
