Help with my bm 7 skimmer

Bought this baby about a week ago

Run perfectly for about 3 days! I then did a water change and soon as I did it the skimmer changed and has not been same ever since

It's gone from that ^

To this

It now won't skim at all just stay at the level I set it

any help be great as the tank is new and I want this baby working to keep ammonia down.

I did turn it off wile I did water change

I have left it alone for a day and then adjusted it closer to the cup but nothing

It's sat 9 inches in water and they say that's perfect ish.

I have the BM 5 and it took a little over a week to break in, and I had to raise it up so it sat in 7.5" of water. The manufacturer states to place it in 9"-11" of water but it kept on overflowing until I raised it.

I have the 5 as well and it took a little stuff out right away but once that was done, it was too - took til I had fish and excess food in the tank to start kicking crud out again. Choke off the outflow until it starts needing to be cut back a bit.

You said you want it for reducing ammonia - is this a new tank?

It's a new tank but I already had 1 so I have moved everything over to my new 1 rock then a lot of my old water and then fresh then my inverts and fish, I rushed it and shouldn't but you know what it like when u have a brand new tank sat next to a old 1 :/, i should have to have a new tank cycle because of all the water and loads and loads of live rock that went across,

Thanks aswel for replying I the cure was the inside of the cup was a little oily so the bubbles were unable to stick, cleaned it all up and now it's perfect again, little tip there, I'd put some chemical in it the reef safe for white spot as my tang got it moving over, so that's what my skimmer pulled out after 3 days and that what made the inside of cup oily
