Water sitting in dis play tank time frame....

I will be filling my display tank with water this week. Since I can only do 32 gallons at a time, how long can the salt water mixture sit in the display tank while the next batch is being made? Does it matter?

I think I read that the salt mixture has to sit a day or two, so that means that the previous 32 gallon mixture will be sitting in the display tank waiting for the next batch. Do I have anything to worry about during this process?

Put a powerheads in to keep it moving. It will be fine.

Since your filling the tank I would not worry to much about your batch of saltwater mixing for a couple of days. I would let it mix until it is all dissolved then into the DT and on with the next batch.

The saltwater in your DT should be fine until it is filled. When I filled my 180g I believe it took about 2 weeks between work and life.

I agree a power head circulating the water is all you need

I use an Eheim 1000 to move water when I need a fast mix. As for the display being partly full, no problem, but submerge the live rock. It needs it.

I will definitely have my powerheads going. I do not have any live rock so that isn't an issue at this time. I might add a small amount of live rock once tank is up and fully functional (during cycling)

Add your rock before you cycle. Otherwise, you have nothing to cycle.

And only fill to about 75% until you put your rock and gear in. You have to allow for some water displacement.

Or, you can put the rock in the tank and let the power heads circulate the water around the rocks and start your cycle while your're waiting for the other water to fill and mix. Lots of options

I already have the rock in place. The sand and powerheads will be in place prior to filling with water

If your mixing your saltwater in a brute trash can or something similar, I would drop a return pump in there to mix it. Seems to mix faster than a powerhead at least in my case.
