Skimmer options for my set up
Hello I have a 65 with a 29 gallon sump. I ended up going with a bubble trap, and fuge in a 29 gallon which made things kind of tight. So in the overflow/skimmer compartment I have about a 12x11.5 space to work with.
Currently have the Turboflotor 1000 which I bought on Craigslist. Should work great but, it takes up way too much space. 7x16 if installed as designed so I have the pump to the side of the skimmer instead of directly in front of the chamber, and have rerouted my hoses. Problem is I can't really find hoses that fit great or will stay together so I'm in a constant massive fight with my skimmer and sump set up as hoses come undone, etc. I was looking at the Reef Octopus 110 which has a 10.4x7 footprint. 10.4 is cutting it close to 12 so by the time I add hoses it might be a tight fit issue again. And I'd like a bit bigger to handle bioload. Also read about the Skimz SN143 which would fit perfect but I've read of issues with quality as well. Maybe the SSS design Reef Octopus skimmers which are smaller footprint like a SSS NWB150? Any other options or input on a skimmer for this size of sump box? |
