Flow for a new FOWLR Tank
Hey all. I am currently building a 30 gal half moon FOWLR Tank. I have a 10 gal sump with a Mag 5 return pump, with a 250GPH overflow box I have about 3.5-4 foot of lift so that should work perfect. I have it coming out on a 3/4 Inch, Y, or V, how ever you look at it loc-lite fitting. My question is, this is a FOWLR tank. Do I need an additional power head(s) for more flow towards the mid to bottom of the tank?
Thank you!

Yes I would look at 2x jebao RW-4 power heads. Your return will provide very little in the way of tank flow. You can go with more expensive PH (like Ecotech). But I would rather have 2x smaller PH vs 1x large.
The RW-4 are adjustable and can also do wave sync. My 0.02

Would these work? I feel they are tiny enough and still give enough flow. Not sure let me know

Those look like crap. Dont skimp out too much on the powerheads.
I have a 20 gallon tank and have two of these for my FOWLR. Love them! http://www.amazon.com/Hydor-Koralia-...=hydor+koralia I have 800gph of water moving across the top of my tank for gas exchange and bouncing off the front glass to stir the tank. Two of these would be great in your tank IMHO. |
