Depends how high it is. Phosphate under 1ppm will be alright

I have heard that a very, very, very high phosphate level will alter you PH level which in-turn can be dangerous to your livestock. Don't know how true that is!!

Phosphate is a basic building block of life. Critters need it for their dna and energy. It's about balancing enough for life but not too much.
Do you have a shrimp? Does it seem sick? What are your parameters?
