Mark's Reef Savvy Obsession

Well it's time to finally show what I have been working on these past few months. The aquarium is by Reef Savvy with the dimensions of 48 x 30 x 20, approximately 130 gallons, and features a Phantom Bottom, along with Armored Seams and Ghost Overflow. I designed this system with the concept that there would be almost no visible wires when complete (probably from my OCD). With that in mind I had the stand made with side comparments in which I intended to place all the wiring, and electrical components to include the dosing pumps and their respective containers.

I intended to hide all wires and hoses as much as possible, so that when complete, only a single wire would exit from the entire system to the wall, and there would be no rats nest of wires behind the aquarium. I decided that I would mount the Vortech MP40s at the rear so that they would be almost invisible. The ATO container (made by Advanced Acrylics) is the same length and height as the sump, so as to hide behind it and also remain invisible. The lighting by Kessil has it's wires hidden inside the light mounts by Le Russo design.

The dosing containers (by Advanced Acrylic) is tucked away inside the side compartments, along with the BRS dosing pumps, the Apex system and it's modules, the Ecotech backup battery, and the Vortech contollers. The skimmer is an Aquamaxx EM200, which sits in a custome made sump by Zero Edge. The ATO is by Puratek, and I am currently experimenting with a GEO media reactor that I modified with a Sicce pump. So now on to the pictures, please, feel free to critique or offer suggestions.

Gotta love a meticulously well thought out clean setup like this. Very nice indeed. How's the em 200 treating you?

Very clean. Would love to get a rough estimate on the cost of tank. Really like the look of those and would be interested in a future project.

Awesome build! Sent you a PM with a few questions on the tank. Great idea enclosing the electronics on a side of the stand.

Very nice set up. Great job. I am considering purchasing a Reef Savvy with very similar dimensions.

Thank you does anyone know if Fluval SP4 or Fluvals in general give off any heat. My tank seems to be running about 4 degrees higher than room temp, but with leds I can't really seem to pin down anything else that could be the culprit

Thanks I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could conceivably hide almost all the wires and cables associated with a reef tank

Really nice setup. I'm waiting on my reef savvy tank right now. Felix is about to start on it. Quick question. I was going to ask how you like the kessils but it looks like you switched out the lighting in your footer. Can you elaborate on why and what your experience with the kessils was?

The Kessils were ultimately not enough for the width of my tank. I needed a little more coverage because of the 30 inch width. So far the coverage works well especially since I mounted them length wise.

The reason I ask is I want to use two 360s to supplement a Giesemann fixture on my tank. I was curious if you were getting decent growth directly under the kessils. How about a new FTS by the way. I love this tank!

I was getting great growth and no doubt with a Geismann fixture in the mix you should really love it. I need to update the photos because I changed a lot of stuff recently including a one week breakdown so that I could laminate the inside of the stand and inside of the doors.

I always wonder what the perfect deminsions for me are when it comes to a tank. I think I found some that may qualify later down the road. 48x30x20 sound perfect to me!

Do you have any video of this setup?
