Reef Code A and B

I have reef code a. Current calcium level is 450ppm. Will have reef code b tomorrow. Current alk level is 6 dkh. I have a 40 gallon. Do I dose both of these or just alk to get it a little higher?

For now you only need to dose the alkalinity to get it up to 8.0 -9.0, your calcium is fine

I thought so but wanted to make sure. Should I dose it to get it within 8-9 range immediately or over couple days?
