Setting up Biocube 14 question

So my gf had her Biocube 14 up and running, then bryopsis hit and took over like wild fire. So we took out the rocks, and sun dried them. She has had only sand, water, and corals in the tank for the past 3 months. She now wants her rocks back in the tank. What should I do ?

They are dried and dead. And hAve been for the past 3 months.

Should I just add the rocks to the tank? There's about 15 lbs

I would put them in a bucket of salt water with a cup of the sand and a power head for 6-8 weeks and let them cycle and repopulate with bacteria before putting them back in the tank.
