LED lighting for 5 foot tank
Hi All,
I'm considering Radion lighting for my 58" x 23" x 23" rimless tank. I'm looking to do a mixed coral. My original thought was 3 x XR15w pros but I might consider 2 x XR30w pros. Does anyone know if the 2 30's would cast enough light if I aquascape for it. Does applying the wide angle lens cause massive room spillage? Also do the RMS single mounts extend to out at least 12"'s? I know 3 - 30's might be ideal but i don't want to absorb that expense and Wattage at this time. Photo's would help if you got them especially of a Red Sea 450 or 525. Thanks -jim |

Placed properly over the tank, higher and with proper spacing, they should be fine for almost anything. If you get heavy into sps and other light hungry critters, you may need to go to 3.
Space them by taking the total length (58") and subtract the total width of the 2 fixtures( lets just call it 30", so 58-30=28"). Now divide 28" by 4 which is 7". So place them 7" in from the ends with 14" in between them in the middle of the tank. Now raise or lower them until you cover the entire bottom of the tank with light and minimize the amount of light that 'spills' outside the tank. That's your best case placement.
