Kessil a-150 too strong?

Anyone here under the impression a kessil a-150 is too powerful for a 28g jbj nano? I keep LPS/softies. Having a nutrient issue right now, but wondering if the light is contributing to the battle.

That shouldn't be overkill. How high is it?

I run a 160 a foot over a standard 15 here at work. It runs at 90% power for 9 hours, with half hour ramps to just blues and then holds those for another half hour each day. The little tank gets plenty of light but I wish I had 2. I doubt your light is too powerful.

I think the problem is with small cube style tanks it is difficult to keep the nutrients suspended. Plus the the light is kinda of strong you will have to raise it more then slowly start to lower it to the sweet spot.

Thanks guys, havent been able to get on. The light is approx. 6" above the water surface, with my first LPS coral another 7" below the surface. I didnt think the light was overkill, but the corals did show some symptoms. I am leaning more towards the GHA which is getting out of control.

Well lighting physically can't add any nutrients to the system.

Green Hair Algae is a symptom of a problem. Something is feeding it. Have you tested for everything? Phosphates?

My phosphates read zero due to the excess of hair algae. I believe my rocks are leaching/storing phosphate. I have no sand bed. It is becoming a forest by the day. My course of action:

Weekly water changes instead of bi-weekly, setting up my phosban reactor, heavy skimming.

If you have any other suggestions to beat that forest, Id be more then welcome!
