Please help with circulation pump decisions

I have a 45 gal with xf130 gyre. Awesome flow but the motor whine over 50% power is noticeable at 3 feet away. I run a herbie method with dc return pump and skimmer pump so its very quiet tank.

So now i am upgrading to a 150 gallon cube. Its 36" and 27" tall. The xf130 i tested on it and its underpowered even at 100%.

I am thinking i can get an xf150 gyre and run it at 30-40% or wait for the xf180 to be released and run that at even lower percentage.

All this for the noise/whine.

I have the tank between 2 couches in a room where we watch a lot of tv. The xf130 whine is just annoying.

Ecotech MP pumps is not an option since i have a rock wall on non viewable sides.

Thanks for the advice.

Sounds like you are looking for over sized pumps run at lower speeds to reduce noise? It's a shame you can't use MPs with the QD on them

Current Tank Info: 625g, 220g sump, RD3 230w, Vectra L1 on a closed loop, 3 MP60s, MP40. Several QTs

Exactly!!! I bought 2 used tunze 6105 and running them at 60% seems to be the sweet spot. I may connect it to apex and raise and lower power throughout the day. Higher when the room is usually not occupied. Its nit as nice looking in the tank but i may buy the deco rock to go over it.

Thanks,
