Getting Pods Out of Chaeto

So, I'm about to do my first Chaeto trimming, but there are tons of pods in there I don't want to lose. Is there a generally accepted way of getting them out before discarding the clump? I was thinking of rinsing the bunch I'll be removing in the display tank? Wasn't sure if that would just make a huge mess?

I normally shake the clump out in the sump before removing it. Shaking it in the display might also work and even if you do get a bunch of crud floating around in the display, the fish and corals will eat what can be eaten and the rest will eventually settle out elsewhere.

Or, put it in a biy off water and a ziplock bag, and
trade it in at your lfs, and/or trade/give it away to fellow reefers

My fuge is an HOB so it's really narrow, and so is my sump (AIO tank). I think that will make even more of a mess and end up with salt water on my walls and other places I don't want it. Okay, I'm going to try shaking it out in the display and see what happens. I was just worried fibers of chaeto were going to get stuck in the powerhead or something. Maybe I'll turn of all the flow when I'm doing it just to be safe so I can catch the bits before they would cause any problem.

Give it a quick shake and don't worry about it.
Still plenty of pods in the chaeto you leave in there.
Bring the bag to your lfs or give it to local reefers.
I used to trash 3 gallons of it at a time sometimes.
