Jebao DCT-15000 high settings

I just finished plumbing my 150G DT and 75G Sump with 1" PVC, UltraFlex PVC and Jebao DCT-15000.
The return is 12' vertical with 2 X 90 degrees elbows and 1 valve.

Pump works great all the way to settings 7 on the controller if I go beyond that to number 8 or 9 the pump fails to pump water and I lose pressure with water going back to sump. is that normal? too much head pressure or my pump is faulty? any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like to much head pressure causing pump to cavitate.

Thank you, so it is a normal behavior that a pump under high head pressure would work on low settings but fail on the higher settings ?

Makes sense, thank you. I will have to figure a way to decrease the head pressure, in theory the pump is rated for 17.5' max head but I guess the 2 X 90 elbows and reduced pipe from 1.5" to 1" factors in more than I thought.

Yeah the smaller pipe size makes flow go down exponentially. And each 90° is a huge loss also. I would try running at least 1.5' hose if you can. I'm running a 9000 pump and have 2 1" returns.

Well it wasn't the head pressure, I disconnected the pump from plumbing and what it is doing is short cycling with 10 seconds on 2 off on anything from setting 7 to 10. 1 to 6 runs continuously with no problems. I am guessing a defective unit. Here is a video of it.

Anyone with this model running at 7 or above?
Thanks

Not a clue but it is certainly a defective pump, what is more interesting is when I contacted the seller and instead of offering me a replacement or a refund he or she is asking me to wait until they contact Jebao!! Mind you I just received the pump couple of days ago.

That's a poor way to handle things. Puts a bad taste in your mouth about the seller. Luckily I have had no issues with my jebao stuff. 3 power heads and return pump for over a year now. I hope they straighten it out for you
