Reviews of the Jecod DCS return pumps

Hi all

Does anyone have one? Care to give us a review? There seems very little feedback out there on them.

Are they as silent as Jecod boast?

Thanks!

I have a dcs 12000, picked it up for my new 250g build. I'm still cycling, but the pump has been running for about a month. It's very quiet, I can't hear it running really at all. I have it plumbed with 1.5" vinyl tubing, connected to 1.5" pvc, then reduced to 3/4" for locline. I have it dialed back to half, and I get surface agitation across the entire top of my 64"x36" footprint.

Interesting because I had the exact opposite. That thing was certainly a whining DC motor running.

I had a DCS 5000 set at 80% running on a reefer 250 connected via flexible tubing and was loud...Not a vibration loud, a running motor loud. Replaced with ehiem compact 3000. Much better. Not absolutely silent but certainly can't the motor whine any more..

I'm almost willing to try a syncra silent to make it more quite if possible, but know the quality of ehiem I might just leave it alone.

I have 3 of the older Jebao (same company) DC12000 that are all 2+ years old and they are all quiet as a mouse. And one is used as an external pump which Jebao says not to do. It runs cool and dead quiet. I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

I got a dcs 5000 a few days ago and iv the same complaint as 2000se it's very noisey even on the lowest setting it's alot louder than my jebao dc3000. I'm going to give it a few more days to see will it will settle down otherwise it's going in the bin

I have a dct-8000 and it has some noise but it's running at full speed. It's not noisy in any sense though. I turn on the tv and can't hear it anymore and when my halide fans are on its not heard either.

Reviews of the Jecod DCS return pumps

For those reporting noise, is it a high pitch whine? I have a curse of, despite not being very young, of hearing many power bricks and other audible range power equipment

I'm running two DC-12000s... One internal (PVC fitting) and one external (flex PVC / barb fitting). After two years both are still very quiet.

Thinking about getting 2 x 12000 for my 310 build 90x36x24. For those that reduce it with loc line does pressure remain strong. I was thinking of possibly reusing my 3/4 penductors.

I reduced down to 3/4" plumbing to fit into locline and the pressure is great.

Thanks. I will order. Are those of you running reduced plumbing do you run speeds over %80? From some of the reading I am doing the more pressure and the higher the speed the higher the noise. I am hoping to reduce noise on this new build out.

Kinda wonder if the original DC line is better than the dct/dcs models...?

Use PWM to control your Jebao DCT pump

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2584508

Jebao DC pump series have the speed controller built in the Motor block. Heat can burn the controller and then you have a dead pump. On DCT and DCS pumps, they moved the controller out of the motor block so less chance of a dead pump and is cheaper to replace the external controller than the pump block.
In theory DCT and DCS pumps should be more reliable.

That's why DC pumps can be controlled directly by the APEX
DCT and DCS pumps can be controlled by the APEX but need an external controller like the one used in the post I provided before

I bought a DCT4000, used it as a main return pump for about 3 months. Noisy, wasn't producing the flow I wanted. Replaced it with an Ehiem, and relegated it to stirring and pumping new salt water. After a few months of that, it quit completely.

I also bought a RW-4 wavemaker. It quit after 6 months. Maxspect Gyre coming soon.

I've learned my lesson.

I have to say I'm more impressed then I thought I would be with a DCT 15000 I'm trying out.

I put all my pumps that touch glass/acrylic on silicone pads (get mine from walmart) Helps reduce any vibration noises. The pump I would not say is dead silent but is very quiet. The noise is like a dull whirring. I don't think it's high pitched.

I have no idea about longevity as I just started using mine. I really didn't think it would handle the head pressure from the basement as well as it is. I was expecting maybe 1000-1400gph at 100%. I'm at 80% and getting around 1400gph. Using 1.5" ultraflex up to the tank. Around 10.5' head pressure. I like the slow start up as it's not a hard startup and dumps a ton of water into the tank causing lots of bubbles so I can have the return higher up in the tank.

I hope it just lasts longer then 3 months. I'll have to get a spare. But I do have several mag 18's I can slap back on if need be.

I was running a DCT1200 for about a year. It's kinda quiet but gets louder at higher speeds. It's not as quiet as my Vectra.

You can silence pumps by running them lower, using vinyl tubing instead of hard plumbing and placing OXO silicone pads under them or where they touch the sump. This lessens vibration transfer.

I've been running a DCS-9000 since November. It does have a bit of a whine, but my MP-40 is much louder.

I like how people compare a $500 pump with a $80 pump. For the price I love mine

I have a DCS 12000. I have the sump doors open and my ear above the water and I can't hear it.

So going on a year later and pump hasn't increased in volume at all and keeping it clean is keeping it reliable. I think that some people go harder on these pumps because they are cheap therefore causing early demise. I've also added a wp10 to the tank and with that I'm a little disappointed in the amount of flow I was hoping for more in such a small display.
