Post Lighting Mount for my LEDs

I am trying to find a light mount for the Rapid LED Onyx fixture that I have over my frag tank

The tank is rimless with 3/8" side and back acrylic panels and a external coast to coast overflow on the back.

I have one Onyx LED unit right now (100 degree optics) but might look at another for better coverage.

I am looking for a light bar that extends from one side to the other and allows me to hang my units 12" off of the water. I do not have a way to use a hanging kit with where the tank is located unfortunately

I tried to retrofit the Ecotech RMS kit. They say the kit is 12" tall, but when I mounted it, it only had about 9" from the water, before adding the unit.

Onyx units have the fan on top, so I cant use a bracket like the Ecotech RMS uses, I either need to use the hanging wires, looped over the rail or a bracket that attaches to the mounting holes but leaves the center open and then attaches to the rail.

It would be great if I could move the lights horizontally after installed. Rotating 90 degrees would be even better.

Tank is 37"W x 19"L x 12" H.

If your a diy guy conduit is a good option. You can bend it to the shape you need and hang your light from it. That's what I did with mine. I can adjust the height if needed and it doesn't look to bad either.

I thought about conduit, but I need it to attach to the rim of my tank, kind of like the Ecotech RMS does. I could attach it to the stand, but only from the sides, not the back, the overflow is in the way.

Is that how you attached your conduit? to the side like most of the rail systems and pendulum mounting systems do?

I'm thinking maybe I can do something with this Kessil mounting arm -

Looks like like conduit. I could use the mounting hardware and have one on each side and get a piece of conduit to span the gap (making sure it can handle the weight. Unless I could just get the mounting hardware from the hardware store?

Does anyone know where I can just get the tank mount bracket with hardware, like this -

I could do my own conduit from there

I attached mine from the back but could be attached from the side also. You could bend a 90 in a 3/4 piece of conduit and use a couple of standoff clamps like these. 3/4 conduit is pretty rigid and can handle quite a bit of weight. It would be similar to the aqua illumination mount.

I am guessing they are using 3/4" conduit for the kessil and halo arms. I'd like to get the same brackets so I can mount on top of the tank on the side, not the stand

The rim mount is a tough one. I've never done one like that before. I contemplated doing it with acrylic but it was easier to make with conduit and attach to the stand. Maybe someone on here has built a rim mount and can help you.

I was able to get the Halo brackets from AquaticLife, so I'll put one one each side then run a piece of conduit up and over the tank (upside down U shape) so I can hang the lights from the conduit and I'll be able to move it up and down.

I'll keep you posted on if it works. (I'm sure bending the conduit accurately will be a challenge)

Those are nice! Where did you get them from? I might have to get a set of those as I am going to be setting a frag tank soon. You would probably only need the one bend. I'm only using one piece of conduit and it can easily support my light which is heavier than most store bought lights (diy led). Conduit benders are easy to use. I believe the take off for a 90 is something like 6" for 3/4 emt. Line the arrow up with your mark and bend it all the way. You will then see just how strong conduit is

I was able to contact Aqualife and they sold me just the brackets to the Halo Mounting Arm with all the screws.
