Stand modification (ish)
Hey guys and gals.
I'm wanting to get a nice sump to put under my 120, and the one that I want is 44" long, and the inside of the stand is 45" .. so I think I'm ok there. My question is... I'm not sure I can get it in the stand as there is a center brace across the middle (front to back) of the top of the stand. If I remove that brace I can drop it straight down into the stand (will never be able to get it out without removing the tank and all that), but just wanted to make sure that if I remove that brace and put the sump in and then replace the brace... all should be good no? It seems as if it's just stapled in place so should not be hard to remove or replace although I may replace staples with screws. Any thoughts of worries on this? Only big thing I can think of at this moment is to water test the sump prior to putting the brace back in and filling the tank. -Porkchop |

Probably best asked in this thread:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1567110 I would replace it with screws, but then again I'm not a structural engineer either. I don't see a problem with doing that though. |

That is exactly how I put the sump in my 90 gallon 10 years ago and then again when I moved 5 years ago. No issue what so ever.
I seem to recall just whacking it out with a plastic mallet and reusing the staples. May have pulled out the back staples first don't really remember. It really was very easy.

Nice.
Thanks! I figured it would be fine.. almost better with screws going back in.. but I'm no structural engineer and just wanted to make sure I would not mess something up. -Porkchop |

Screws would certainly work, just consider the condition they may be in some time down the road. You might need to use an ez-out or drill off the heads when they rust. That is why I stuck with staples.
