BIOHOME media

Been building a new sump and have been using liverock rubble.

Have been considering using a media block from marinepure.

I have been keeping freshwater fish as well as my reef. I am looking at buying some k1 media for a project with a 55 gallon and like 300-500 juvenile fish that I'm raising.

So I have been doing research:

So biomedia i break down into 2 diffrent uses.
Arobic bacteria media which breaks down amonia and nitrite. to nitrates
anerobic bacteria which reduces nitrate into nitrogen gas.

The best media combo to use on my 55 gallon to take on the large amount of waste and food is the biohome media in the bottom of a k1 micro fluidized bed filter to keep the nitrates down. Well with some water changes of course.

Since i'm going to be buying some for my freshwater tanks I thought ok i'm already paying shipping I will take some marine biohome instead of the marinepure. I also like the price diffrence.

here is the links for information and us seller.

Cody, ..i actually purchased some of the BIOHOME ULTRA MINI FILTER MEDIA to replace the crappy media that came with a Marineland Cannister filter. It was far superior in everyway and the absorption rate and porous factor is huge in comparison. Bits of dry rock broken into the same size might serve as well but that wasn't available to me. Not much better on the market in my opinion. I no longer use a cannister filter but would recommend Biohome to anyone needing a good media for filtration.
