Nature VS Aquariums TIDES and FLOW
Hi all
wanted to start a chat about random vs laminar flow in aquariums VS tides and reefcrest wave action in nature. Ive just set up my mp40qds to mimic 4 tides a day with smaller pulses from opp ends. Yes i know tides are 6hrs and 25mins long ish. but until ecotech allow shifting or offset programs this is the best i can do. my theory is once down around 12ft or so wave action is zero (unless really rough) ground swells go deeper but still get limited once past 25ft or so. Alot of the corals we have seem to come from laminar/pulse...small surge areas. what would the results be if i continue?

I'm ressurecting your thread because I really want to know how this worked for you! I was wondering if anyone mimics tides (specifically something similar to this schedule http://www.metservice.com/marine/tid...barrier-island ) and your thread came up under my search.
So, what was the result?
