Crabs on my Gorgonian

This jerk will not get off my gorgonian and is always at the tiptop swinging around. Is he hurting my gorgonian, or eating it? He's been on top for 4 days now. It looks injured now and the polyps are closed at the top because of him.

ha, when i had gorgs my hermits would occasionally take a ride.

it didn't seem to bother them at all. i guess even hermit crabs needs a thrill now and then.

Have a sump or refuge? If so, you should introduce them.

He's just a thrillseeker crab, better than those couch potato crabs

I've heard that penicillin works.

My hermits climb my gorg daily, then jump from the top. I think they think they are bungy jumping. lol

The gorg closes up while they climb, open right back up afterwards. They been doing this for months with little to no effect on the gorg.

If it is staying in the same spot for long periods of time, the gorgonian will start to die off in the spot the crab sits.

Had this happen to my rock covered in gsp while a hermit was resting until his claw regrew.

Definitely a funny crab swinging around.
