I believe 'else' puts it in random mode.
Wave mode is just that. Off. On. Off. On. And you can adjust the speed and duration.

There is no 'best' setting. They all have their advantages. You'll just have to see how your corals and fish do. I see most people run in on wm1 or else FWIW.

Mine runs on wm1, and I have it in a very new tank.

I run a pair of pp20's (which are to powerful) on a 180. C mode on lowest power 20 second run per powerhead. Gives a nice sway to the water and really cleans up dead spots with the two different waterflow sources.

I have 2 PP -4's on my 40 breeder and they are are Else, and speed 3. A pp 8 would be way to strong for a 40

Lots of people use the 8s on 40g tanks!! Just depends on your livestock and aquascape layout

I like wave 1 on my Jebaos. I had a pair of rw4s and rw8 on my 120 and loved it. I'm trying out the crossflow right now but may go back to my rws

With a rw8 on a 40b I would leave it on w1 mode so u can control the flow. It will probably be to strong on else mode.
