Apex Aquabus

I am going to be ordering a PM2 for my Apex and an AFS. I wont be needing a crazy long aquabus cable. Can I use USB 3.0 cables sized to my needs?

can this be used?

http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-1-5-...+USB+cable+1ft

I am wanting to hook the PM2 module up to my EB4, the PM2 will be right next to my EB4 so don't need the 10+ feet of the aquabus cable.

I'm pretty sure you can use regular USB cable as long as it isn't powered (some long usb cables have power).

In the instruction manual, they specifically say not to use a USB cable as apparently, it could fry your Apex if powered. Based on that, I wouldn't risk it. Try asking in the Neptune forum.

Don't they also tell you if you want a very long cable to use a long usb cable as long as it isn't powered?

If it's a short run any USB cable will do. The reason why the manual states not to use non neptune cables is because USB cables over 15ft will almost always come with a repeater which can fry the Apex. Under 10ft any will do, if you need longer you can buy non amplified apex cables from here.

I ordered a 50' cable from usbfirewire. They specifically make Apex compatible cables.

That will work fine. It's USB-A Male to USB-A Male.
