Red Sea Reefer 525 XL

Anyone have any feedback on this tank? Moving in about 6 weeks and thinking of upgrading. I'm bummed because I have a bunch of MP10's that won't work on this tank. I was hoping not to buy additional equipment. Right now I have a deep blue 80g shallow reef. That would need a new stand. Just thinking of upgrading and selling that tank (w/o stand).

Is the reefer quiet? My DB is real loud.

Thanks for the feedback.

If it is anything like a reefer 350 or 450 it is very quiet.

Have one love it dead quiet, I use a vectra the damn thing is so quiet I can hear the biopellets hitting each other ...lol you will not be dissatisfied the only thing I don't like is the ato doesn't drop water quickly it's made for evaporation replacement.

Im doing the same thing this year, going to a Reefer 525xl. Awesome looking tanks.
Was also wondering about the measurements of the ato reservoir on this tank? Cant find that info anywhere, just the volume. I wanted to use an acrylic one for ca/alk/mg in jts place instead...

Wow that would be great! Thank you!

Do you plan to use a different ATO system?

I'm not sure yet, I have a tunze ato from my last tank but always though it was super loud like one of those keruing coffee machines so I have not yet hooked it up the red sea one works fine it's just in an annoying spot I'd rather have the space free

I'm actually buying an ATO now for the Reefer. I have had a JBJ for years but don't like the floats or suction cups holding the sensor.

I was planning on getting the Tunze but hear complaints about the pump... So you feel best looking at another brand one?

The tunze is solid just noisy when running it wasn't always as loud as it is now I've never had an issue with it I figured it would be louder in the XL because the run would be both higher and longer

What do people use for powerheads? Anyone use MP 40's? Will 2 do the trick?

I stopped by a store here in Long Island owned by Justin Credabel(TLF's goniopora expert) and they had a Reefer 450 with only two mp40's(Quiet drives) and this tank, loaded with gonioporas had crazy flow on every corner. The Reefer 525xl is also 60" so I believe the two MP40's along with return flow would work perfectly for an sps tank(that is my plan as well)

* just a side note before I get the fish police... I rescued the clown tang from a lfs he refused to eat and was wasting away, the queen was infested with ich she was from Petco of all places. Also on her way out. I paid 20$ for her, qt for a month and some babying now she eats from my hand. Same with the clown tang.
