Comes with head unit, power bar, temp probe + "accessories", which they aren't clarifying yet what that entails.

Their main facebook page does not have any update yet but their website is working super slow right now for me, hopefully they are updating it! I assume from the facebook post that the kit will not include any PH or Conductivity Probes for that price.

That is a crazy price even without those probes. People sell used Apex's for more than that. I'm shocked and never saw that one coming!

They had to do something big to make up for all of the negative rep over the past 4 years from all of the failed releases.

I never would have imagined it would be that low for the intro price. They really should have done a better job marketing wise to create more buzz then release the price.

I don't know... The created quite a buzz with the pre release video, followed by the BRS video this week. I surely don't expect this to be a mainstream controller on the level of the Reef Keeper or Apex but who knows if a bunch of early adopters like them!

I don't know about that...

This Cerebra has the potential to be THE controller.

Neptune's big mistake was remaking their new Apex to look like a Fisher-Price/Lego knockoff.

180 liter, sumpless reef, no skimmer for the moment.

Current Tank Info: Juwel VISION 180, currently only invertebrates, planning to have low bioload as I have no skimmer and no refugium for the moment.

I called the local office in HB and the rep said it comes with "a few probes" and then said to watch the BRS Video to see what exactly it comes with.

I highly doubt they will include a PH probe or Conductivity Probe in that package price. I am sure more info will be released soon as it is supposed to be launched on the 20th.

There is something very weird about this approach to business. I think two scenarios of this aggressive pricing selling:

1- The price drop this large is to overcome fallout(s) the company acknowledges having with previous products attempting to regain customer confidence;

2- the product isn't worth the price. This company has always been extremely high priced for the products they've put out. This controller really being worth $700 in the market would never be retailed for a 50% discount, this is not realistic.

I would be careful going out buying this piece thinking it is a great deal without knowing anything about it

Neither.

Neptune rushed their new Apex product out to beat this Cerebra once they were made aware the Cerebra was being released on June 20.

Vertex is being VERY smart - they are slashing the introductory price to create buzz (as you can see here is happening) and take away from Neptune's announcement.

I highly doubt it will have many bugs. Also does not look like a cheap controller , looks solid

I've lost track of the number of times a new product gets released with giddy anticipation and, frankly, silly expectations; only to be subsequently revealed as yet another new set of clothes for the emperor. This may prove to be a category disruptor, or it may expire with nary a whimper. Who knows. It'll be interesting to see what folks think of it over the course of a decent period of time. For now I'm sticking with what's worked for me.

will have more "bugs" than an ant hole, imo! i agree looks well made, however, the way it is demoed by BRS leads me to think it will have many issues. (ie. intuitive) i would rather know why my controller is acting: apex code writing.

Who is the master mind behind this type of sales? Look you save $325? Oh you want the second bar and two probes as first advertised please Add $325? As advertised the $374 unit is competing with RKL at $120.

If anyone remembers the release of the Vertex Alpha skimmers, they released them at a lower than normal introductory price which they maintained for quite a while. After the prices went up, I can't remember them ever being discounted again. I look at the low introductory price as a fast grab for market share. Looks like a superior quality product, but they have to compete with Apex's top notch customer service, continual release of new products to be used in conjunction with the main unit, and third party product compatibility. I really enjoy my Apex classic and am too vested already to switch, but at that price who knows? Can they hold a discounted price until Christmas? LOL

This is exactly as I see the move as well.

As an Apex fan and Vertex fan, I look forward to seeing this type of competition. In the end it definitely benefits us, the consumer! I expect the two will push each other to make better products.

I wonder if the introductory price is only for a limited number of units?

Yes, according to their Facebook postings it is.

They are saying once the allotted supply is gone - it is over.

They are saying it could be anywhere from 5 days to 2+ weeks - depending on how fast they sell out.
