Water from fish bag
does it matter if (after acclimation) I dump all of the water with the fish into my quarantine tank?

Yes. If there are ich parasites swimming around in it that haven't yet attached to your fish, you'd do better pitching them out. Agreed, not as bad as letting them into your DT, but I still wouldn't. Safest way to transfer a fish without a net is a small plastic kitchen colander (bowl with holes.) Water goes through, fish doesn't, and you just slip him gently into the water. ALWAYS put the stopper in your drain when working with the bag.

Copper will most likely be in the bag too.

Putting the stopper in the sink is a good idea. I hope nobody on this forum has had to learn that lesson the hard way....

+, most fish stores treat their water with copper, you don't want that in your QT

I usually put the bag into a big bowl, drain most the water, then go to the TTM tank and scoop the fish with my hands. 2 seconds and done.
