Live Rock Question

So, I acquired 24 lbs of wet, live, rock from an established tank. Currently my tank has nothing in it except 2 inches of live sand and 18ish gallons of water at 1.026. My question is, do I need to cure this rock in a separate container? Or would it be better to put the rock directly into the tank? I just want to start out on the right foot. Thanks, guys.

If there is nothing wrong with the rock/system it came from you should just put it in your tank

Agreed. Also, I'd bring your salinity down a bit. With evaporation, it may rise to an unhealthy level. I try to keep mine around 1.023 so if it rise with evap, I'm still in range.

The water has been diluted a bit and the rock added. Thanks.

1.026 is ideal a little lower is fine for fish and just be aware that once you have fish/coral you want to keep it very stable any increase should be done very slow

Agreed, 1.026 is perfectly fine. I keep mines at 1.026. Put the rock directly into your tank, if you trust the source it came from. What size tank do you have. With 24lbs, you may see a mini to no cycle depending size of tank.
