adding micro bubbles

For those of you adding micro bubbles to your tank, how are you doing it? how long each day/week do you do it?

Pictures would be great!

Honestly if you are running a skimmer I just don't see a reason to add mico bubbles. That said most of those using them run it at night 3-4 times a week.

I run a skimmer in my sump, and also a $10 air pump with an air stone in my return compartment. Why not. No one can see it. Figure it doesn't hurt

Any comments...?

From what I can find, The bubble should run hours a night. Start with just an hour at night for a first few weeks

I started introducing micro bubbles to my tank 5 weeks ago. I used two wooden air stones each one is positioned in front of a return pump (I have two). The air pump is turned on for 6 hours early morning.

My goals are to increase oxygen and PH, and act as a backup if the skimmer broke down. I was away for 3 weeks and my tank has a glass cover.

I didn't see any difference in PH.

Do you have the air stones at the output or input of the return pump?

They are submersible pumps. The airstones are located in front of the input.

You could just get yourself a power head that has a venturi feature on it and hook this up in your DT somewhere. Plug it into a timer and you should be set.

Red Sea Reefer 450, Vectra pump. Mixed tank, mostly LPS and softys.

I just started last night - ran 9 hours with an airstone in front the of pump intake.

I have lime green cyano in the display tank and red cyan in the sump/refugium.

First results: this morning some of the green cyano floating around. (yay). Green bubble tip that has been under a rock and hardly open has moved to the top of the rock and tentacles are significantly bigger. (also yay)

More info as the days/weeks go by.

I run it for a couple hrs each night once the lights r off. I've seen better polyp extension and healthy looking corals with it.

I have a woodstone under a power head with the air pump on a timer. It turns on from 0000-0200. Everything looks much happier and cleaner than without.

I was thinking of moving my airstone to the tank and get it under a powerhead because my return splits off so not all the bubble are making it to the display.

Can anyone post pictures of how their tanks look with the bubbles?
Just wondered what we are going for.

Here's a picture/avatar of one of my older tanks and the bubbles. This picture was probably taken somewhere around 2007. I wasn't using the bubbles to scrub the tank in any way, I just liked the way they looked. The power heads on both sides were placed so close to the waters edge that every 30 seconds or so a burst of bubbles would shoot out. If I wanted it to stop all I had to do was submerge the pumps a little more.
