Green Fox coral placement? What best for it in my JBJ 28g

It has not opened up completely for a long time. It says low light and low flow. My JBJ had two pumps and great light, see photo. some Other coral are getting huge, like Toadstool. but frogspawn and torch are just ok Any other suggestions on placement of the other ones in the tank?

Sand level. Just set it in the light, but at the base of your lowest rock tier sitting straight up. They're a gorgeous coral. You MUST put kalk in your topoff water and have your alk at 8.3 or close. 2 tsp kalk per gallon of topoff water.

Salinity 1.024-6; alkalinity 8.3-9.3 on KH scale; calcium 420; magnesium 1300, temp 78-80, nitrate .2. Ammonia 0. No filters: lps tank. Alk and cal won't rise if mg is low.

Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny, royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%.

I have my fox coral 1/2 way up under 70w leds set at 70/100%, I had it under mh/t5s before; the color will get so much better with more light. My euphyllias are at at the top with the lighting, euphyllias(frogspawn/torch) will also do nicely in higher light. If you are still running the original lighting they will all benefit from being higher up.

So do they require a ton of light and low flow, or the opposite? This Green Fox Coral has not opened completely for a very long time. How long do they stay open? Do they close up at night? Any other things that I can try?

No, they like lower flow and lower light. I agree with Sk8tr sand level in a fairly shady spot if you have super intense lighting.

I bought a small piece ( two inches by two inches) and it had a yellow growth on the rock it was attached to. I placed it about halfway up in the tank with the yellow showing. It had medium flow. It stayed the same for a year and then fell over and off the shelf. It really never grew.

I moved it to the other side, turned it over to where the yellow didn't show and placed it in medium flow, slightly higher light. The yellow growth was apparently a light-avoiding sponge. Both the sponge and the fox coral took off growing at an amazing rate. The sponge now covers several square feet on both the original side and the new side the fox coral was placed on. Most of the yellow is in shadow areas. The fox coral is now larger than a basketball. It is somewhat shielded from the current by the overflow box but it does get quite a bit of light.
