Red Sea REEFER

So I am currently interested in the red sea REEFER XL 525, but I can not figure out if it comes with a filter or not. On drsfostersmith.com it says you can choose the filtration, but then on the brochure it only says you need a return pump. Anybody know?

The reefer does not come with a skimmer if that's what you're asking. The MAX series do come with filtration. Make sure you're looking at the right series of aquariums.

The Reefer has slots for 2 filter socks, but they are not a 'standard' size so you either DIY fix the existing holders or use Red Sea filter socks. You don't get a return pump or a skimmer.

I was looking at one and decided to go with a CadLight Artisan that is 15 gallons bigger, has more room for, and a bigger sump. It also comes with a DC pump and a skimmer. I already have those so they gave me a rebate on them.

The Red Sea is rimless which I really like and the CadLight has eurobrace which I'm not crazy about. But the Reefer 525 (108g) was $2900 delivered and the CadLight Artisan (125g) was $2400 delivered with the pump and skimmer. I got $275 off so I paid $2125 rather than $2900 for virtually the same tank & stand.

Mine gets delivered Friday. If you have questions about the CadLight, feel free to ask here or in a PM. BTW, I never even heard of CadLight before I started shopping for a new tank (my 180g tank sprang a leak between the back glass and bottom glass).

The reefer is made to be bare bones so you can choose your own equipment. I just set one up at our shop, super easy to assemble. We just threw in a skimmer and some LR rubble in the sump and its doing great. The only complaint I have is that the ATO is a pain to access. You cant fill it with a 5 gallon bucket.
