Dosing Pumps

Which pumps are you guys using?I'm looking for something that's highly reliable and accurate.

BRS 1.1mL/min for three part and vinegar, all else use ColeParmer Masterflex. See awesome thread on this in reef central.

Avoid the bubble magus. In my experience it's not reliable. I have on that maybe was just a lemon but replaced heads and calibrated but overtime it messes up and the clock speeds up over time. Went to a Neptune DOS which I like but only 2 channels and $$$. Very reliable over the past 1.5 years. Like that it interfaces with my apex and has level monitor if you get the DDR to go with it. I never miss an empty reservoir cuz it messages and emails me when it needs refill.

I like the DOS system from Apex. Easy to set up, tell it what volume you want to dose and in that time period and it takes it from there.

I've used the LiterMeter for years and years. Never had an issue. I use it for continuous water changes and driving my kalk reactor.

I use the Drew's Dosers from BRS. Well built, consistent delivery and good price.

So far most of you recommend the GHL followed by the DOS system, hmm if only I could buy both. How long have you guys been using them?I like that both can be dosing up to a 0.1mL.

I have the BRS 1.1 ml dosers and they do the job (controlled by Apex).

I also have the Jebao doser and it is a pretty good value for what you pay. Only the programming is a bit cumbersome.

I don't like the DOS because by its design it's not a dosing pump but rather a water changing system for considerable volumes. As a result it is too bulky and too expensive.
I would get one if they had a compact, dedicated small volume dosing system with at least 3, better 4 heads.

Not sure why you think a DOS can't do dosing. I have been impressed so far and so simple to set up.

I got the DOS from another reefer and while it's a little bulky it's reliable and works well. Easy to program in Apex Fusion and I can dose down to .1ml. That was important to me since I dose my vodka & vinegar mix through it.

Before the DOS I was using BRS 1.1 ml pumps.

It can do dosing just fine, but it's overkill in cost and space consumption because it was particularly designed to be a water change system.

dosing pumps

Spectrapure LiterMeter III with a remote pump module. I add my Calcium and Alk with them. They are accurate, easy to program. The thing I like most about them is that they add product 150 times a day in equal amounts.

I use the BSR 1.1 ml/min ones. I like them a lot. Quiet and reliable.

I agree that it's expensive but it's nice to have everything integrated into my Apex.

Actually the DOS system took up less area than 2 BRS pumps mounted and far less space than 2 liter meter pumps.

I used GHL for just a few months. I didn't like the programming but was a solid performer.

The liter meter pumps are a beast and can make delivery from a good distance.

Both DOS and liter meter make the math easy and dose small amounts over time. With the DOS system I can do it in a time period, like at night for alk.

Cost wise the BRS pumps are less expensive but require a controller and harder to program if you want to dose multiple small doses.

With DOS you need Apex.

With litermeter the controller is built in, at least the ones I used.

However if you have Apex the cost for DOS and Litermeter is about the same.

If. You get the four head model you can also use it as an ATO when you add level probes that plug in the back of the unit. It uses 24 volt DC mutual speed stepper motors. So you can set it for various levels of fine grain dosing. I have 4 of them on my system doing all kinds of task's from balling to feeding and water changes.

This is the basic input for DOS. I think right now it is dosing a small dose every 7 minutes. I get am alarm when my container is 20% empty.

Hmm I really want the Apex controller with all the goodies and DOS,but the GHL seems to be more than capable to running by its self, hence the name standalone doser lol.
