BRS Rubble or Marinepure for refugium base?

opinions?

My refugium (chaeto) is tiny, it sits inside the sump of my Reefer 170 (34G)
Should I:
-Leave it bare bottom
-put LR rubble (I'll have to cure it first I believe)
-put Marinepure block on bottom?

Also I'm using the output from my Carbon reactor (low flow) to feed the refugium.......does that sort of defect the whole purpose of a refugium, should I try and feed the refug with water just after filter sock?

I use rubble and marinepure in my refugium. The carbon water feeding the refugium is fine.

Being that you're limited on space I would go with the marinepure block. For the size you will get more surface area than with rubble. I would also TRY to feed the fuge from just after the filter sock as the carbon will reduce SOME of the nutrient content but definitely not all (If it did we could only use carbon to filter our tanks!!). If it would be a big hassle to do so I would leave it as is.
