I'm leaning toward a cucumber. There's at least a 100 or more back behind my rock work.

I have these as well. I did find an Id once but can't remember what it was. I'm sure my first thoughts were cucumber also (as they look like medusa worms) but for some reason think they were actually a species of sand anemone but might have that backwards and thought it was a nem.
either way they have proven to be harmless. I love the picture as it show such diversity.

Is that a bottom looking up view?
Or just a side shot of your DSB?

Lots of good life in there..
Not sure what those are though..
How motile are they? worm of some sort?

I never seen them move around the tank. The tentacles do retract at the slightest movement

No tube, that is the animals body. And yes they do have the ability to stretch. They all live in the sand with just there tentacles sticking out. If a turbo snail find his way back there ,he's instantly killed. I've had a fire fish venture back there never to return. They lay a complete mat of tentacles in the back section of my system, anything that goes back there can get stung and parish.

I believe them to be harmless but they are carnivore, the stripes on his body maybe think cucumber
