Added Wave maker and water went cloudy
Hey Guys,
So I decided to add another Hydor pump to my tank on a Hydor Koralia Smart Wave. A few days after adding the extra pump my water has developed a white haze to it (looks similar to bacterial "outbreak"). The pumps alternate from each side of the tank, so I haven't really added more flow, but have changed the pattern of water flow. All my levels seem to be within normal parameters and the fish and corals seem to be fine. The skimmer seems to be pulling the same amount of skim-mate as before. The tank is almost 10 months old now. Has anyone else seen something like this? Should I be preparing for a cyano slime type outbreak? Thanks a bunch!!! |

Could just be pulling up "fines" from the sand,etc...
Did you give the new powerhead a water/vinegar bath to clean it off? Could just be a small bacterial bloom too.. It will more than likely pass with time..

It probably stirred up a lot of detritus. I'd blow off the rocks, stir the sand and then do a healthy water change.

Thanks!
I rinsed the pump really well, but no vinegar bath. Rocks are cleaned frequently with the turkey baster, but I agree I definitely stirred up some debris behind the rock. Hopefully it'll pass quickly.... looks awful lol |
