Tank on a longer stand
I picked up a IM 30L tank, 36x15x13. My wife would like more of a piece of furniture for the stand that just an aquarium stand. I did find these two stands at Target and was wondering if you think they would work.
This is the one I'd prefer. It is 42x18.4x34 making it 3" longer on each end and 1.7" front and back. http://www.target.com/p/windham-2-do.../-/A-50760878# This on is closer to the size of the tank and is 38x15.75x30.25. http://www.target.com/p/carson-sidek...d/-/A-14388064 |

With a 30 gallon tank I would not work about it. It is close enough to the edges to not bow and 30 gallons is not a lot of weight. Consider making a custom stand though if you want something more interesting than a typical tank stand. That is what I am doing for my 75 and am really looking forward to the finished product. The custom stand should be cheaper and stronger than anything decorative that you might get unless it is particle board and that isn't a great long term choice. Plus you probably want to seal it anyways to protect from the saltwater.

Thanks, I'll prolly go with the top stand then.
I've considered making a stand but I have no tools to even start making one and no experience doing it. |
