Dual reactor or cannister?
I currently run a 70g tank that was set up for FW with a fluval cannister filter that i decided to do SW after the fact. Now im looking at putting one of BRS dual reactors pn it for GFO and carbon. The tank does have a hob skimmer, so would i be ok to get rid of the cannister and just put the reactor bank on? All i can see myself losing with that the mechanical filter from the sponges and the water movement from the out put on the cannister.
Thanks for the advice! |

Assuming that you have a decent amount of live rock and it's been in there for a while and established then you should be fine removing the canister filter. I would do frequent (daily) ammonia tests for a week or so after removing it just to be safe, but I don't think you will see any issues.
