Problems connecting RO/DI system
Hi,
I want to buy an RO/DI system, but I don't know how to connect it to water supply. I rent an apartment (no garage, no back yard). None of the faucets have a screwing filter (to add the connector - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/chrome...ter-valve.html), the dish washer is connected to the water supply and the connection is soldered. I thought of trying to split the washing machine's water supply, but if there will be any problem with that, I'll have big problems with the leasing office. Is there a solution for my situation? Thanks |

I T'd off my washer line no problems, I just don't run it at the same time as my washer because the pressure drops

When I was in an apartment, I was able to unscrew the tip off of one of the faucets and use the adapter. Are you sure you can't get the end of one of the faucets off? almost all faucets have a tip that airates the water, so it doesn't splash everywhere and can be removed by unscrewing. A lot of times they are on pretty tight though as they can get calcified. Then I use an adapter.
If you can't shut off the water to the laundery washer and add a T, than I think that trying the sinks again my be the only other viable option. |

Cold water line on the washing machine or faucet adapter..
You can also T off any faucet supply lines under the sink

When I lived in apartments, I installed my RODI under the kitchen and bathroom sinks.
Go to the hardware store and tell them what you are doing. Get a tee and some of the metal braided lines, so you don't have to do any measuring or fancy plumbing. The reject water line can just be flopped into the sink if you don't want to drill a hole in your drain for the sink.

Go and get you a T adapter for a garden hose and run it off the cold water line for your washing machine. Make sure the one you get has on/off switches like this one..
![]() These can be bought at any Lowes/Home Depot. You can also run the waste line for your RO/Di into your washer drain. Then you can turn off the water flow to your RO/DI when not in use. The plus to this is that you are not cutting or tapping into any lines and can be uninstalled without any damage.

Great news. I checked the water supply in my bathroom's sink - and it looks like I can work with it.
It's 3/8 in, what connector should I use with it? |

![]() Just turn off the water.. take the hose off.. take it to the hardware store and tell them what you need to do.. You more than likely just need a "T" with a compression fitting for the tubing..

I didn't find the "edit" button, so I'll just post in another comment. This is the part list, I'd love if someone could approve it so I can order it:

brass is ok on the going in for ro/di and it's ok for the water going back to the drain but not for the -0- water you're going to use for the tank....keep that line all plastic or stainless.

Brass can put a lot of copper into the water, but it's okay to put it before the filter, as stated.

There are many ways to connect your water line, BRS sells everything you need, free shipping.
Try this mur-lok-ez-faucet-adapter-kit chrome-faucet-diverter-valve |

UPDATE:
I found that my water supply under the sink is good to work with. Bought some connectors (T, valve and quick connector for ro/di). I'll connect everything this evening (not including the ro/di system, because it's on its way from BRS). Thanks for the help, everyone! |
