ATB Nano One review
Hi all,
I just wanted to share some info on the ATB Nano One since there is not much info out there. I've had the skimmer running for a couple weeks now and it is a well performing, super silent skimmer (quietest I've owned). The footprint of the skimmer is not small given it is called a nano, but in reality, i believe it is called nano due to the shortness of this stubby little beast. At 15.75 inches tall it gives you room to move around and over things in the cabinet. The specs are on their website (ATB USA) which are; Footprint: 12" x 7.5" Total Height: 15.75" Rated for tanks up to 150 gallons Cone diameters: 6″ & 3.75″ Airstar 1200 DCT pump Air Draw ~ 1200 l/hr 16 watts total power consumption Recommended sump water depth: 6" to 8" Note: Avoid heavy iodine dosing near white skimmer components the skimmer was only given a rinse before it was placed into the sump. I have a 9 x 15 chamber for this and with a couple things like the sock holder and my piping from the eheim filter, it was a closer fit than others I've used. The site states they run a waveline pump but mine is clearly labeled Jecod, which is fine by me since I have not had good luck with waveline branded products. The skimmer is very different from anything i've used in the past because it is almost all press fit construction. The bb chamber press fits into grooves on the base plate and the body press fits into grooves on the outer edges. When the pipe fitting is slid into the body and through the bubble chamber, it is such a precision fit that it literally holds the bubble chamber and body together firmly. This sucker is EASY to take apart and clean. All tolerances are exact. In fact the lid on the cup may be too exact since i have to lift that thing straight off from the machined grooves to remove it or else it binds a little. The skimmer is SILENT! I mean Silent! I have the pump at half speed and it is pulling around 600 lph. My other skimmers that pulled that amount of air could be heard easily. I haven't put it through all it's paces yet, but since it is working well, i will go through some air numbers with the different settings. a few pics to follow

Definitely reefer of the month material.LOL Thanks for the review I have wondered about this skimmer, I how much tank do you think it could handle? I take it that you have yours on the 60 gallon tank.

HI moondoggy4
I'd think it would handle 100 to 120 easily. It's not small. Essentially a shorter 840. 399 was imo a good deal. First cup at day 4 20170120_200859.jpg 20170120_171404.jpg

Great my dream tank would be 36 x 30 x 22 so this should work great on that size tank.

Do you worry about the Jecod pump long term? That just doesn't scream ATB quality to me.

Another note on the nano one is the break in time. I got this skimmer wet at 9 p.m.
and had the stand pipe wide open with the pump speed set at 3. I figured to run it like this for a day our two and see where I was at before adjusting. 8 hours later when I got up for work, the air/water line was already visible and it was trying to push a thick head into the cup. This was without a deep cleaning (just rinse) or seeding it. Pretty impressive. I haven't even closed the output at all (still wide open). Only adjustment I've made was to increase the pump speed 2 clicks. Very nice to have this level of adjustability. The skimmate is in par with the ins80s I have, but the space I now have in the cabinet, along with no vibration and silent operation, puts it way up there on my list of skimmers I've used.

Thanks for the review. I really like ATB products but the longevity of the pump concerns me.

Tivo, this fits in your sump without any modding? I know we have the same sump but don't remember the size of that first section. I'll have to measure it when I get a chance.

Looks like mine is 7*15 which will severely limit any skimmer choice I make.

my fuge area is tiny and both my return and skimmer sections are decent size. I only use the center fuge area to house xport NO3 blocks.

hehe
nothing slips by unprocessed (ya right!) The pic does look a bit cramped doesn't it? but the sump is bigger than it looks and that angle looks like I'm an equipment hoarder with no where to put things except in the cabinet.

also So Cal tropical may still have some JNS Sk-2's in stock. they are 12" x 7.8" but should fit caddy-cornered.

Another thing this skimmer would be good for is the Marineland tanks with the stock stands that are really short.

Thanks for the review. Glad it is doing good. ATB does use Jecod DCT pumps not Waveline. Anton tested both and found the Jecod DCT pumps to be more reliable. My personal ATB Nano One has been running for two years and I have no issues.
