Biocube 32 LED discussion
I am new to the forum and I have recently re-entered the hobby. I did so with the purchase of the new(ish) Biocube 32 LED. Having had some experience with reef tanks about a decade ago, I chose the Biocube knowing it served much of what I was looking for but would require some tweaking. I have had it up and running for about 4 months now and have upgraded several parts, finding little information on what others are doing online. I am hoping to find other BC32LED users to discuss the ongoing saga with. Am I at the right place?

Awesome! Glad to be here. I have found, probably in part because of the BC32 newness and also because I spent a solid decade away from the hobby, that it has been difficult determining what is good, bad and ugly for the mods and upgrades and am only just beginning to see the positive and negative affects of my endeavors. I have modified my cube to utilize the InTank media basket which is designed specifically for the BC32, with a Tunze 9001 skimmer, the CL UV light and a Hydor Koralia 425 Power Head. Runninng floss, then Purigen then ChemiPure Elite in the media tray and I max the water to the basket where the floss is near the top of my tank. I also have a doser to keep the Ca, KH and Mg in range using BRS 2 part solution and an ATO.
I have about 45 lbs of live rock, various LPS and softies and 6 swimmers in the tank. Recently upgraded lights too. Added a TruLumen 12" Marine Fusion light with 12K White/Actinic Blue to increase the light, particularly towards the substrate. Having nuisance algae growth and hoping the additional light will help. We shall see.

Welcome Welcome! Yes there are a few of us feeling our way around in the dark. Seems to be more everyday which is awesome. The mods are mostly the same as the old biocubes with a few minor tweaks here and there and more people are coming up with different ideas all the time. Wish you the best of luck and perhaps start a build thread to keep us updated with your progress.

It's also really valuable to you personally to go back and see what you did in the beginning and your mindset. Go into the nano sub forum and at the top left there's a tab for "new thread" click it and go from there. If your like me at all you prob have pics on your phone dating back to when you started, I threw all them up at once and pieced it all together from memory until I got up to date.
