2 gyres and looking for more flow
I'm using 2 maxspect gyre 150's with their new advanced. Omg roller and still feel like I need more flow. They are slightly offset from each other and using 100% flow with their LTC (lunar tidal mode). Any suggestions for more flow? Maybe 2 smaller gyres to cover the full 30" width?

What size tank? Most likely bb since 150s put out a ton of flow. I've got 2 in a 125 using an alternating ramp program up to 70% and it's fine for me. However, there are a lot of factors involved... rock work, corals etc.
Suggestions: maybe try your gyre's vertically? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tank size is 72x30x24. Mainly sps and rock work sits no higher than about 12-14".

i run 2 xf250 gyres in a standard 120 and have lots of flow but my tank is only 48". in your tank i recommend adding a couple mp40's on the backwall as well.

220 then? That's a big tank. Not sure how the gyres work in that environment. Do you have the upgraded paddles? I've read that some people think they increase flow.

I don't have the updated paddles, but I feel like the two gyres don't seem enough flow wise. I'm not sure if 4 gyres would be gooo much for a 30" wide tank

I have 2 tunze a and a gyre 150 on a 220...72x24x30 and it's fine. I have it on pulse from 30% to 100% every 3-4 seconds and it easily hits end of tank. The tunzes are little cheap non controllables for surface agitation. You sure you just ain't reaching for an excuse to buy more equipment. J/k lol

Nice. My only issue is that the tank is a penninsula in wall. Perhaps 4 gyres, but with two at a slightly lower level and varying the on/off times. Thoughts?

Hagar do you all think about two gyres on opposing walls and two vertically on each comer?

may want to try a different setting on the advanced controller. something that will let them run closer to 100% longer to make sure the flow hits the other side. I have 2 xf150s on an advanced controller on my 5ft 150 tank. I cant run them higher than 40% or they start moving sand and making some corals mad. I run pump A on gyre mode that ramps up to 40%, then pump B on pulse mode up to 40%.

So I ordered 2 more gyres along with an aqualink t1 and will play with The settings to create more random flow. Will update after I've figured out what is providing the best results.

My 96x30x24 has an MP60 on one side and a gyre 150 on the other. SPS near the gyre are amazing with great PE...sps on the MP60 have peeling flesh in areas facing the powerhead. I am willing to bet you have more than enough flow. |

I have now MP40qd's and agree MP's work well, but to get flow across the other side of the tank, there better not be corals on the way or theyll get blasted. I plan on two XF250's alternating on a 5' long tank, with two mp40's pushing water near the top from the back to the front glass. I also really like the fact the gyres allow for flow near the surface, for great agitation and oxigen exchange.
