Would you accept corals from Ich infested tank?

As the title says, if you know a tank has Ich, would you accept coral frags from said tank?

The question is does coral dip kill ich? I'd assume, so but not a risk I'd take either.

absolutely i would accept them. then i would dip them, and quarantine them without fish before introducing to the main system.

I would definitely accept them. I would QT them for over 72 days and put them in my tank!

I understand the reasoning behind both answers. I don't have a QT setup for Corals, and I am not going to setup one. It is just too much work.

We all know that most, if not all, LFS have ich in there tanks, and yet almost everyone at one point or another bought corals from an LFS, dip, then introduce to the DT.

And, we can't be sure that the corals we buy online comes for an ich-free tanks.

I don't think ich will encrust on corals but I'm sure they do in rock or frag plugs. I usually remove any rock or plugs and glue my own before it goes into my tank.

Sounds like a lot of people have nice bright lights on their QT's to keep corals alive for 72-days.

Ich can encrust on the stony part of a coral. Given how many people don't QT, I think you have to assume that every coral carries ich and act accordingly.

If you take any corals out of the ocean and put them in the tank, you are accepting corals from ich/velvet/and whatever else infected waters.
The only way you will not chance getting disease is to never put anything in your tank. Quarantining is your only way to lower the risk, no matter where the fish or corals come from. Even then it's not 100%

but the OP clearly stated with 100% certainty the corals are coming from an ich-infested tank. LFS tanks may or may not have ich. i dont qt all of my corals. but if it is coming from a tank with 100% certainty then i would have no choice but to qt.

Depends on how much someone is willing to lose.

In a 55g with small number corals, the risk is probably not important to the owner.

In a 400g , with 2-4k invested in corals, tearing apart your reef due to ich is not an option I'm willing to take.

There's threads in this forum where people are ripping 1200g systems due to ich.

Free or not, all corals and fish gets 90 days in QT. For corals, QT is simply a tank left fallow for 3 months.

It's not even just $$$, work involved to get the tank fallow is a discussion by itself

Never I got bit once and that was enough. I quarantine all my corals now.
